TSG Hoffenheim has separated from its women's head coach Theodoros Dedes.

One day after a ten-goal spectacle in the DFB Cup, the coach’s contract with Hoffenheim’s footballers was terminated. For now there is an interim solution.

Bundesliga club TSG Hoffenheim has parted ways with head coach Theodoros Dedes. As the Kraichgauer announced on Monday, the contract, which runs until the summer of 2026, was terminated early by “mutual agreement”. In recent months it has become clear that “the club and coach have different views on some fundamental questions about the direction and approach to girls’ and women’s football,” the statement said.

TSG Hoffenheim is already in talks with a successor

TSG was eliminated in the round of 16 of the DFB Cup at the weekend with a 4:6 defeat by Eintracht FrankfurtHoffenheim is in sixth place in the league. The previous assistant coach Thomas Johrden will now take over as head coach on an interim basis. “We are already in discussions about the final successor to Theodoros Dedes and are confident that we will be able to present a solution by the start of winter preparations at the latest,” said Ralf Zwanziger, head of the women’s football department.

Dedes took over the team for the 2024/25 season. “We realized together that the hoped-for development in this first half of the season did not occur as desired in all areas,” explained Zwanziger: “It’s not just about sporting results, but about the overall orientation and cooperation.”
