The fire brigade received a report of a gas smell in a ground-floor apartment on Loreinenlaan this afternoon around half past three. A spokesperson for the safety region said that gas was indeed measured in the home. The resident of the building where the air came from was not home at the time.
The fire brigade decided to evacuate seven porch houses as a precaution. The residents of the homes who were home at the time watched from the street as the fire brigade tried to enter the building. The street was completely cordoned off by the police to give the fire brigade plenty of room.
Residents back home
The fire brigade eventually managed to gain access to the house via the rear of the ground floor apartment. The fire brigade took measurements in the house. After this, the building is ventilated.
Shortly before 5 p.m., the security region reported that all residents of the porch were back home. The fire brigade cannot say how the leak could have occurred.
