On Friday, Depraetere announced that she is expecting a child in the spring. It is not the first time that a government member in office becomes pregnant, but it will be the first time that a party member takes over powers within the Flemish government for a short period. Colleagues within the government reportedly also agreed to this, because this replacement is not provided for in the regulations.
Chairman Conner Rousseau will decide later who will replace Depraetere.
