After the chaotic last few days and the departure of coach Moritz Glasbrenner, SSV Ulm 1846 has presented a successor. Pavel Dotchev, the trainer with the most experience in the 3rd league, comes to the Sparrows and signed a contract until 2027.

Ulm is Dotchev’s eighth stop since the introduction of the single-track 3rd league in 2008; he had also previously managed Rot-Weiß Erfurt in the then third-tier regional league. With 366 games on the sidelines, the 60-year-old is the coach with the most games in league history. Overall, he has a points average of 1.51 and achieved promotion with Erzgebirge Aue in 2016.

“In Pavel Dotchev we are gaining an absolute specialist in the 3rd league for SSV Ulm 1846 Football. He brings enormous experience from his previous positions and we are pleased that he has chosen the path we showed him. He has already stabilized his teams several times and led them to stay in the league – that is exactly what we need now,” said Dominik Schwärzel, Chairman of the Supervisory Board. Relegated Ulm is in 18th place in the table with 13 points from 14 games.

The coach himself said about his new commitment: “SSV Ulm 1846 football stands for tradition, passion and clear values - exactly what I want. The conversations with those responsible were characterized by great respect and a shared vision. I feel that something can happen here and I am convinced of the quality of this team. Together we want to be successful.”
