The German beach volleyball players continued the successful start of the World Cup in Adelaide.

Svenja Müller and Cinja Tillmann, the third-place finishers in the 2022 World Cup, won their first group game against Argentina’s Brenda Ailen Churin and Morena Marisa Abdala 2-0 (21:18, 21:11) on Saturday. Louisa Lippmann and Linda Bock also gained a good starting position in the race for direct entry into the knockout phase with a 2-0 (21:13, 21:18) against María González, Claudia Gonzalez Valentin and Allanis Navas Sanchez (Puerto Rico).

The two top-placed duos and the four best third-place teams in each twelve groups move directly into the round of the best 32 teams. The remaining third-place winners fight for the remaining tickets in a lucky loser round.

The day before, other German couples had already ensured an optimal start. In the men’s category, Lukas Pfretzschner and Sven Winter won at the start, as did Paul Henning and Lui Wüst. In the women’s category, Anna Grüne and Sandra Ittlinger as well as Lea Kunst and Melanie Paul also achieved one victory each.

With the Olympic silver medalists Nils Ehlers and Clemens Wickler, the last of the seven German teams will also take part in the action on Saturday morning (11:00 a.m. CET).
