Last night, John van den Heuvel caused a short-lived altercation between his best friend Wilfred Genee and TV mustache Johan Derksen in the final minute of Today Inside.

It is common knowledge that Wilfred Genee has a friendly relationship with John van den Heuvel, while Johan Derksen thinks he is a terrible guy and has a business relationship with his great enemy Royce de Vries. Peter R. de Vries’ son is Johan’s lawyer. He is disgusted with John and didn’t want him at his father’s funeral.

Birthday Peter

Peter R. would have turned 69 yesterday and Tina Nijkamp reflected on that Today Inside. “I would like to think about it for a moment. I think it is so important that we do not forget him. Of course, it is often about the trial surrounding his murder, but also as a person… He is such a special man who has meant so much to the Netherlands.”

She continues: “I obviously worked with him for a long time when he was at SBS 6 and I always thought when I saw him: gosh, you just solve murders, right? He just did that. He meant a lot to a lot of people. I find it very strange that they didn’t celebrate his birthday in RTL Boulevard tonight.”

‘It’s because of John’

Johan then suggests that John stops this kind of thing. He was in Boulevard yesterday. “Yes, but Boulevard is John van den Heuvel’s program, isn’t it, that’s a bit difficult.”

Tina: “Yes, but he was shot after that broadcast. They had an item about King Charles, who turned 77 today. The King of England. Then I think: Peter R., you know.”

Wilfred in the breach

Wilfred then stands up for his good friend John. “Yes, but that really has nothing to do with John van den Heuvel. I am one hundred percent sure of that. You may suspect that, but…”

Johan: “Well, the De Vries family can drink his blood.”

Wilfred: “Yes, but that doesn’t mean they can’t pay attention to it, right? He’s just a former employee.”

Friend of John

Johan then gently points out that Wilfred is biased. “Yes, I know you are a friend of John van den Heuvel, so it is no problem that you defend him.”

Wilfred: “No, but I am also sure that that can never play a role. Moreover, I don’t think that as a participant in such a program you have any influence on what they will broadcast, right? You are not going to stop that.”

Johan: “No, but he will also not encourage doing something like that in memory.”

Great respect

Wilfred is clearly annoyed. “Well, I think he still has great respect for Peter as far as I know.”

Johan: “Maybe on stage, but he didn’t behave like that.”

Wilfred: “I experience it a little closer and I know that it is not the case. It is not for the stage.”

Johan: “No, Royce de Vries is crazy.”

Wilfred: “No, they no longer agree, but he still has great respect for the person and career of Peter R. de Vries.”

Johan: “Yes, his problem is that he knows he is Peter R. de Vries light.”

Wilfred concludes testily: “Yes, well, that’s an opinion.”
