No trip in winter: Eintracht Braunschweig is staying at home in preparation for the second half of the season in the 2nd Bundesliga. Sports director Benjamin Kessel explains the reason.

Eintracht Braunschweig will not travel to the training camp during the winter break. The club confirmed this in a press release on Friday. The team is preparing for the second half of the season in January in the local Lion City. The first competitive match date has already been set: BTSV will face 1. FC Magdeburg on January 16th.

Sports director Benjamin Kessel justifies the decision with the tight schedule: “The winter break is limited in time anyway,” said the ex-professional. “In view of this fact, we have decided to forego a training camp this year and to complete the preparation in Braunschweig.” They want to make the best possible use of the few days – without additional travel stress or organizational hurdles.

Before Eintracht goes into the winter break, there are still some challenging sporting weeks ahead. Before Christmas, the struggling BTSV will face Hertha BSC (November 21st), 1. FC Kaiserslautern (November 29th), Holstein Kiel (December 7th), Dynamo Dresden (December 12th) and FC Schalke 04 (December 21st). Eintracht is currently in relegation place 16 in the 2nd Bundesliga
