Teemu Pukki doesn’t post pictures on Instagram very often. When he posts, he has something important to say.
– Thank you, Pukki wrote in connection with his publication on Friday evening.
One word and pictures said it all. Puki’s dazzling National Team career ended in terms of competitive matches. The all-time leading scorer played his last minutes at the Helsinki Olympic Stadium against Malta.
The goodbyes ended up being bittersweet. Finland suffered a 0–1 loss to Malta in the World Cup qualifiers.
After the match, Pukki spent a good time with the supporters of the Olympic Stadium. He called Pohjoikaarret once more.
There were three pictures in the Instagram post. In the first two, Pukki broke down in tears. In the third, Pohjoikaarte’s thank-you tifo was held, where supporters thanked both Pukki and Rasmus Schüller. The latter was no longer selected for the national team.
Puki’s final national team farewell will be experienced on Monday in Tampere. That’s when Huuhkajat meets Andorra in a practice match.
