FC Schalke 04 bring back ex-coach

FC Schalke 04 is upgrading in the fight for promotion to the Bundesliga and is bringing back a former coach: Peter Hermann is to bring the Royal Blues tactically forward.

He knows German football, the stars of the scene and also the district club very well: Peter Hermann is returning to FC Schalke 04. As S04 announced on Wednesday, the 70-year-old completes the coaching team of interim boss Mike Büskens with immediate effect. Hermann initially only signed until the end of the season.

“With his experience and his experience and his professional qualifications, he will immediately strengthen our staff. He was a professional himself, has been working successfully as an assistant coach at the absolute top level for 30 years and has experienced a wide variety of situations in the process,” explained sports director Rouven Schröder : “We are convinced that he will give us important impetus in the decisive phase of the current season.”

As assistant to Jupp Heynckes, Hermann won three German championships and the Champions League in 2013 together with the FC Bayern club icon.

DFB agrees to change – Hermann praises Schalke development

Most recently, Peter Hermann was assistant to U20 national coach Christian Wörns. Meikel Schönweitz, head coach of the DFB youth teams, agreed to the temporary change: “Peter is very passionate about our team. He has signaled that he would like to stay with us for another year after the summer. ” They didn’t want to put “any obstacles in the way” of Hermann.

The Schalke returnee himself justified his step by saying that the miners had seen a “targeted development”: “That’s why I could imagine a renewed commitment to Schalke.”

In Gelsenkirchen, Hermann is now expected to bring the S04 stars forward tactically and also prepare them perfectly for the upcoming opponents. Unlike Büskens, the 70-year-old is considered a tactics expert and is experienced in analysis. The head coach, on the other hand, is in demand as a motivator.

Peter Hermann was already in the 2013/2014 season assistant to the then football coach Jens Keller. When he had to leave the Royal Blues just a few months after the start of his second season, Hermann was also given a leave of absence.

So now the comeback in fourth place in the 2nd Bundesliga, which is one point behind the relegation rank and another three points behind first and second place.

The away game at Dynamo Dresden is coming up for the miners on Friday evening (6:30 p.m.).
