Health insurer CZ in Tilburg will keep the premium for its most popular basic insurance the same next year. The policy costs 159.99 euros per month, just like this year. CZ is one of the largest insurers in the country.
CZ says it will use almost 57 million euros from its own piggy bank and a one-off windfall to prevent a price increase. The Tilburg company points out that healthcare is becoming increasingly expensive and is struggling with an aging population and staff shortages. Chairman Joep de Groot therefore wants more attention to be paid to the causes behind health problems, such as debts, stress, poor housing or loneliness.
“If these are addressed, we improve the quality of life and make people less dependent on care,” says De Groot. Health insurers had to announce their basic premium before Thursday. Next week they should also have reported what the additional insurance will cost next year. Based on this, consumers can decide in the coming weeks whether they want to switch.
