ERC Ingolstadt has also proven its strong form in the Champions Hockey League (CHL). In the first leg of the round of 16, the fourth-placed team in the German Ice Hockey League (DEL) defeated the Austrian series champions Red Bull Salzburg 6:2 (3:1, 1:0, 2:1).

The Panthers now have all the trump cards for a possible quarter-final entry on November 19th (7:15 p.m./MagentaSport).

With 29 goals in the last four victories before the international break, the team of head coach Mark French, who won the Germany Cup as part of the coaching staff of the German national team, had previously been in excellent form.

Against Salzburg, the ERC continued this trend in their own hall. Triple goal scorer Riley Barber (6th, 35th, 54th), Philipp Krauß (15th, 44th) and Myles Powell (16th) scored in the unchallenged victory for the Panthers. Tyler Lewington (14th) and Lukas Hörl (43rd) were successful for the guests.

The final of the premier class takes place in March. In the ten CHL editions so far, only Red Bull Munich from the DEL has reached the final once. In 2019, however, Bayern lost to Frölunda HC Göteborg.
