Young, powerful and above all futuristic: the Ecuadorian represents the ideal investment for Oaktree. And the Nerazzurri management could soon focus on him, after having had him in their sights since last summer
Charles De Ketelaere is firmly at the top of Bruges’ record transfer charts. Ardon Jashari follows closely behind. Paid 37.5 and 36 million euros respectively. Destination: Milan for both. Common denominator: Milan in destiny and two exhausting negotiations concluded only by fully satisfying the demands of the Belgian club. 3rd place in the special ranking is currently occupied by the Brazilian Igor Thiago, who moved to Brentford in the summer of 2025 for around 30 million pounds and also became a protagonist in the Premier League (8 goals in 11 games), after a season of adaptation. Yet, Thiago could soon be “ousted” among the best capital gains by Joel Ordoñez, hypothetically still headed towards Milan. It’s too early to say, but the interest – this time not from the Rossoneri but from Inter – is all there. Young, technical, aggressive defender but above all futuristic and ready to explode. Practically the identikit of the profile on which Inter intends to focus from today to the next seasons. Indeed, since… yesterday: because Oaktree’s market policy is clear, it prohibits excessively onerous negotiations in terms of price tags and rather requires long-term investments to be entrusted to the hands of Cristian Chivu, waiting to reap the benefits. Exactly what happened last summer with Bonny, Sucic, Luis Henrique and Diouf. For some, the investment has already paid off, for others the benefit of the doubt remains, linked to issues of settling in and time. The certainty, however, is that snatching Ordoñez from Bruges will not be easy…
the plan
—
From 1 July next, neither Francesco Acerbi nor Stefan De Vrij will be part of the Nerazzurri squad. Too advanced in age, too squeezed by the last exhausting seasons, out of the technical and management plan for the Inter of the future despite a present in which both former Lazio players continue to be appreciated and employed. On the one hand there is Bisseck’s adaptation to central defence, on the other an investment that Inter will certainly make between January and next summer. The names under consideration of Marotta and Ausilio are different, and among these there is that of Joel Ordoñez for all the characteristics mentioned above. The issue, however, is that dealing with Bruges is never easy: in recent years the Belgian club has never taken a step back in terms of sales, and it is unlikely that they will do so for the Ecuadorian defender who is a protagonist for Bruges (he has already made 14 appearances this season) and above all last September he extended his contract until 2029. Translated: for less than 25 million, Bruges are covering their ears. But the operation could… double. Because the future of Aleksandar Stankovic is also at stake, having moved to Bruges last summer where he is doing so well this season. Who knows: maybe Inter will decide to postpone the return of their son of art to the base to obtain a preferential route for Ordoñez. After all, anything is possible on the market…
