More than twenty tips have been received about the death of Amsterdam resident Lex van Cittert, whose remains were found in 2023. These tips seem to contain useful information. A few weeks ago, Bureau NH and Investigation Verzocht released an extensive reconstruction of the case.

In 2023, Van Cittert’s bones were found on an industrial estate in Lelystad during excavation work. More than twenty-five years after his disappearance, the case remains unsolved. It is still not clear why Van Cittert was killed and who was involved.

The police are now focusing their investigation on a former club building on Zilverstraat in Lelystad. In 1999 there was a building there that at the time served as the clubhouse of a motorcycle club.

Research shows that the club was closed in 1998 and that the building subsequently changed hands. The police are still trying to find out who exactly came to visit around the time of Van Cittert’s disappearance.

Acquaintances describe Van Cittert as a bon vivant who deteriorated further in the 1990s due to his gambling and drug addiction. The Public Prosecution Service hopes to obtain new information with a reward of 15,000 euros.
