THEBeauty accompanies us everywhere is the title of the exhibition which opens tomorrow 13 November at the Torneria Tortona in MilanThe subtitle explains the meaning of the operation: – poetry in images from a pediatric rehabilitation hospital ward. iThe project is curated by the Eva Maria ODV Association with photographs by Giulia Manelli. The exhibition remains open until November 16th.
How it was born Beauty everywhere
The photographer Giulia Mannelli says: «I am a portrait photographer, Anna Bogani with whom the project was born, a psychoanalyst, she is the founder of the Eva Maria Odv voluntary association which has been operating within theE. Medea Institute – Our Family by Bosisio Parini. They they carry out speech therapy activities, theater workshops, sporting or recreational activities aimed at children suffering from oncological pathologies, … At a certain point we came up with the idea of bringing a photographic set inside the structure”.
The eruption of reality
The idea was to break into the atmosphere separate from the hospital world the light and also the energy of external reality. «We put in the center of the studio the mothers, and certainly also children, fathers, families. But our first thought went precisely to the mothers” continues Mannelli. «Going in there and being next to the children for even six months at a time in the facility mothers separate themselves from everything, from every other aspect of their lives. work, friendships, leisure, habits».
A team of creative volunteers
«We wanted to put the mothers on the stage, so that they could be seen, not just from the camera lens. In the hospital next to a child they inevitably disappear, they are erased. Putting them at the centre, for at least the time of a photo shoot, helps them remind us and them that beauty accompanies us everywhere, iin every context, even the tiring one they were going through. Together with the other volunteers we set up a project at Vogue. By networking everyone’s abilities. They were made up, arranged by the hairdresser, a volunteer who makes floral arrangements brought her creations to the department.”
The tree mothers
The book “Beauty accompanies us everywhere” (Ancona publishing house) has been in bookstores since November 14th
