Alcaraz and Fritz had both won their first match and therefore met in a duel for the lead. In the first set Fritz showed a good level. He could handle Alcaraz’s game and the American was simply much sharper in the tiebreak, which he won convincingly.
Drama at ATP Finals: two spectators died at the unofficial World Tennis Championships in Turin
The second set also seemed to end in a tiebreak, but at 6-5 Alcaraz broke the number six in the world and in one fell swoop he took the set. In the third part, Alcaraz was clearly stronger than Fritz and took the victory. It was the sixth meeting between the two tennis players. Alcaraz made the score 5-1 with his victory in the mutual series. Fritz only managed to beat the Spanish top tennis player at the Laver Cup in September this year.
Later in the evening, Lorenzo Musetti defeated Australian Alex de Minaur in an exciting match: 7-5 3-6 7-5. The Italian came back from a 5-3 deficit in the third set. Alcaraz is therefore not yet certain. If he is defeated by Musetti in the last round and Fritz wins against De Minaur, all three will have two victories.
