Holstein Kiel has extended the contract with Marco Komenda. The 28-year-old central defender, who was previously one of seven players in the squad without a working document beyond the current season, signed on Tuesday until 2028.
Komeda has been with the club since 2020 and is therefore the longest-serving professional at KSV behind goalkeeper Timon Weiner. He has rarely been a regular player since then, but has been in the defensive center since the third matchday this season. With 902 minutes of action, he has already almost surpassed his personal record from last season (1,325 minutes).
“Marco has earned a key role for himself on the pitch and within the team in recent years. He has proven himself again and again, even after setbacks, and is a player we can always rely on on the pitch. His tackling strength, dynamism and mentality embody exactly the type of football that Holstein Kiel stands for. We are looking forward to being able to rely on his consistency in the coming years and to continue on our common path,” said sports director Olaf Rebbe about the signature.
