German ice hockey star Leon Draisaitl and the Edmonton Oilers have returned to the NHL after a massive 1:9 home defeat. The Canadians beat the Columbus Blue Jackets 5:4 (1:1, 0:2, 3:1, 1:0) after overtime, and the Oilers came back spectacularly.

In the meantime, Edmonton was behind 1:3 and 2:4. Connor McDavid shortened the gap before Jake Walman, who was shorthanded, took advantage of a mistake by the Blue Jackets and saved the Oilers into overtime 58 seconds before the final siren. In this, Jack Roslovic scored his first win after three defeats in a row.

Two days after the blow against the Colorado Avalanche, Draisaitl did not participate in a goal, but the Cologne native was on the ice for three of the Oilers’ goals. The runner-up improved to tenth place in the Western Conference with their seventh win of the season after 17 games.

The New York Rangers ended their negative streak at Madison Square Garden. After seven home defeats to start the season, the Broadway Blueshirts won 6:3 (2:1, 3:0, 1:2) against the Nashville Predators. Thanks to their strong away record (7:2 wins), the Rangers are in eleventh place in the East.
