Tour now with Ilan Rubin on drums
In mid-September 2025, the Foo Fighters gave their first concert with new drummer Ilan Rubin. The former Nine Inch Nails drummer joined the band in the summer after the group parted ways with Josh Freese, who stepped in following the death of longtime drummer Taylor Hawkins in 2022.
Dave Grohl introduced Rubin from the stage at the California gig with the words:
“Everyone else has said it, now I get the chance to say it: ‘Ladies and gentlemen, will you please welcome…’ The toughest motherfucker of them all – Ilan Rubin now plays drums in the Foo Fighters. It’s official. You can stamp the passport.”
New music already released
In early 2025, the Foo Fighters released new music for the first time since 2023’s “But Here We Are”: the new track “Today’s Song” and a cover of the Minor Threat classic “I Don’t Wanna Hear It”. Most recently, the single “Asking For A Friend” followed.
