This Tuesday is the day: the Eleventh of the Eleventh. The carnival season officially starts on 11-11. November 11 is being celebrated on an increasingly grand scale and not just in the big cities anymore. In almost every municipality in Brabant, princes, princesses or prince couples are unveiled, or there is another large or small party to celebrate. Below you will find where to go to party, and of course where you can follow the festivities from your couch, at Omroep Brabant.

On the Eleventh of the Eleventh, carnival princes, princesses or prince couples are presented in many places. As can be seen on this map, this year around 11-11 everything really gets going in every municipality for the first time.

Waiting for privacy settings…

Oeteldonk (Den Bosch)
The fact that November 11 last year fell on a Monday made no difference to the people of Oeteldonk. Den Bosch was bursting at the seams with around a hundred thousand visitors on 11/11 and the municipality is now expecting that many partygoers. Before eleven o’clock in the morning the city center will be full: the bells of St. John’s Church will ring, trumpeters will play the national anthem and then the official kick-off will follow.

Knoerissenrijk (Uden)
Uden is going all out for the first time this year during the Eleventh of the Eleventh. Five former princes thought it was time for a grand 11-11 party on the Market in their village. “What is possible in Den Bosch and Limburg, we can also do here,” says initiator Walter van Uden (yes really). The program is already largely complete. There will be artists such as Veul Gère, Stef Ekkel and Corry Konings. The evening will be discussed by Kees de Bever. “That is certainly the first one from Oeteldonk that we are bringing here,” laughs co-initiator Roland de Laak.

Kruikenstad (Tilburg)
For the Kruikenzeikers, November 11 is a kind of second New Year’s Eve. The city does not wait until the morning of the Eleventh of the Eleventh for the party to start: the new carnival year has already started here at exactly 00:00. CV Ut Bekaant celebrates a grand party in Café de Boekanier, where they officially herald the new carnival year. The proceeds from the tickets go to the construction hall.

There is also plenty to do in Tilburg on this day itself. Fortunately, there is no need to get up early after the countdown party. The party starts at 3.30 pm at D’n Heuvel with, among other things, the Kruikencantus. This year, De Dorini’s, De Carnavalsgekken, She’s and Jelle Oosterveld, Nostalgieten, Uncle Thoom, DJ Ron het Carnavalkanon, Jan van Brusselband and DJ Worstenbrood, among others, will provide a party that you won’t be able to think about.

Krabbegat (Bergen op Zoom)
In Krabbegat it will be a later Tuesday with the traditional ‘ellef ellef’ at the Goat van Mie d’n Os on the Bleekveldje. Bergen op Zoom has a real countdown clock towards the kick-off of the ‘Lenten season’. The party doesn’t start until 11:11 p.m., so we’re guessing that some short days will be recorded on Tuesday (and Wednesday?) in the Bergen op Zoom region.
