The German cycling team Red Bull-Bora-hansgrohe continues to reposition itself and has hired the experienced Australian Allan Piper as an advisor to the sports department. The 65-year-old ex-professional had recently taken a break due to cancer.

Peiper made a name for himself especially during his time with UAE Team Emirates (2019 to 2021), where he guided the young Tadej Pogacar to his first Tour de France victory (2020). From 2007 he was also a sponsor of the up-and-coming Mark Cavendish at the T-Mobile team and its successor High Road/Columbia.

“It’s about living a clear sporting vision and translating it into performance every day – that’s what drives me,” said Peiper, who will work closely with sports director Zak Dempster on the newly formed Red Bull team around star signing Remco Evenepoel and Tour third-place finisher Florian Lipowitz.
