At just 17 years old, Wisdom Mike has already made the leap to professional status at FC Bayern and has already been substituted once in the Champions League and the Bundesliga by head coach Vincent Kompany. In an interview, the homegrown man spoke about how he deals with the hype surrounding himself.

His Bundesliga debut on matchday 5 made a lot of headlines at the end of September: at 17 years and two days old, Wisdom Mike became the second youngest Bundesliga debutant in FC Bayern’s club history – and is ranked tenth on this list of the best Bundesliga players since 1963.

It’s no wonder that those responsible at Säbener Straße think highly of the offensive player. According to media reports, his first major professional contract with the German record champions awaits him just in time for his 18th birthday – apparently without an exit clause.

But despite the increased interest, Munich’s top talent remains remarkably calm. “It doesn’t really put me under pressure, at the end of the day I’m here to play football. I try to ignore what comes from outside as much as possible. I just want to let my feet do the talking,” Mike explained to “transfermarkt”.

Wisdom Mike sees himself as a leading player in the German U17

According to his own statement, the young goalscorer has already “learned a lot of new things” with the Munich star ensemble. Mike is now trying to bring this new experience to the German U17 national team.

He is currently playing in the World Cup in Qatar with the U17 team and was on the pitch for Germany in the two draws against Colombia (1:1) and North Korea (1:1). Mike himself knows that he has long played a special role in the DFB team: “I try to take responsibility off the pitch and also see myself as a leader.”
