The accident happened around 6:30 PM in Poelkapellestraat, near the De Spriet intersection. A car crashed into a telehandler that was parked on the road for roofing work on a house.
In the car was a couple from Ypres, aged 80 and 79. Both were injured and taken to hospital. The heavy impact also threw the driver of the telehandler, a 36-year-old man from Hooglede, from his cab. He also suffered injuries and had to be taken to hospital.
The Arro Ypres police zone arrived on site to make the necessary findings. It will be checked whether the signaling around the implement on the roadway was sufficiently visible.
