Hissing, whistling or an invitation to sex. Almost all women have experienced unwanted behavior or sexual harassment on the street. After the gruesome murder of 17-year-old Lisa earlier this year, the subject of street safety returned to the agenda. Yet a simple survey on the street in Amsterdam shows that many young women still feel unsafe in the city and now experience this as ‘normal’. To make it clear what it is like to walk alone as a woman, a camera crew from De Telegraaf put it to the test on the streets of Amsterdam.
