Rijkswaterstaat (RWS) will start work on the emergency lane of the A2 motorway this Monday, so that from next year buses between the Leenderheide junction and Leende can avoid the busy rush hour. This makes ASML more accessible and encourages the use of public transport.

Rijkswaterstaat will start cordoning off the hard shoulder on Monday. The work will mainly take place outside rush hour so that there is as little inconvenience as possible for road users.

Four breakdown bays will be constructed on the route with sufficient lighting. In addition, the crossing at the Heezerhut viaduct will be completely paved and thus made suitable for the bus.

Special signs are also placed so that road users know that a bus is allowed to drive on the hard shoulder in case of traffic jams. RWS hopes to complete the work on December 12 this year. A route is not only being made suitable for the bus on the A2. Parts of the A50 will also be tackled in 2026.
