After the first four legs went with the darts, Van Gerwen Greaves broke in the fifth leg and even took a 4-2 lead.

But Greaves did not give up, held her own leg and in turn broke Van Gerwen in the eighth leg. As a result, a decisive ninth leg had to be played. Van Gerwen threw well, but missed three match darts.
Greaves was then shot twice to finish it off, but also failed. During Van Gerwen’s next turn, his second attempt at double 3 was successful. Van Gerwen still awaits duels with Gary Anderson and Niko Springer in the group. The latter surprisingly won 5-3 against Anderson on Saturday evening.
Small victories Gian van Veen and Wessel Nijman
Gian van Veen and Wessel Nijman also won their first match at the Grand Slam of Darts, but it was not easy for them either.
Nijman fell behind 4-2 against Josh Rock, but the Uitgeester straightened himself out and eventually achieved a 5-4 victory by winning three legs in a row.
Van Veen, who recently won the European Championships, gave up a 2-0 lead against Lisa Ashton. The Giant came back to 3-3, but had to leave the seventh leg to Ashton again. After Van Veen had made 4-4, he ultimately decided the match with a double 2 finish. Van Veen and Nijman are in the group together at this Grand Slam of Darts.
Danny Noppert wins with pain and effort
Earlier on Saturday, Danny Noppert also won his first group match with a lot of pain and effort. The German Lukas Wenig missed no fewer than seven match darts and Noppert was ultimately able to take the victory before the gates of hell: 5-4.
