DFB trip in danger?
Shocking moment: BVB star brutally hit
November 8, 2025 – 10:49 p.mReading time: 2 minutes

In the draw against HSV, Nico Schlotterbeck receives a strong kick on his right foot. The national player remains on the field until the final whistle.
Nico Schlotterbeck’s foot was treated for minutes, but the Dortmund central defender continued. After the sporting disappointment with the 1-1 draw at Hamburger SV, the 25-year-old gave the all-clear himself. “Good, everything is fine,” the national player told the German Press Agency when asked about his physical condition.
The Dortmund player went down in the 47th minute after Jordan Torunarigha hit him hard in a challenge. The Hamburger stepped on Schlotterbeck’s foot and caught him in the ankle with his leg outstretched. Torunarigha was lucky to escape without a yellow card for his hard tackle.
While Schlotterbeck then had to be treated for minutes on his foot, he returned to the field a short time later and finished the game. After the final whistle, Schlotterbeck said about the scene on Sky: “He’s over there, the referee didn’t see it. But I don’t blame him for that. That’s football. I carried on. That’s fine.”
His coach Niko Kovač assessed the entry differently: “A stamp. That was tough.” Since Schlotterbeck remained on the field throughout the entire season, the Dortmund coach also assumes that the central defender’s international appearance is not in danger.
Schlotterbeck is part of the DFB squad for the last two international matches of the year in World Cup qualification. National coach Julian Nagelsmann’s team would book their direct World Cup ticket with victories on November 14th in Luxembourg and three days later in Leipzig against Slovakia.
