The Brazilian GP weekend continues with qualifying.

Oscar Piastr’s Saturday started with a disaster in the sprint race. PDO

The home crowd had to wait until the very end to see if Brazil’s own son would make it Gabriel Bortoleto included in the GP time trial.

The Sauber driver experienced the biggest exit of his life in Saturday’s sprint race when he lost control of his car while braking on the main straight.

The gauges registered a stop of up to 57 G’s for Bortoleto as his momentum literally came to a screeching halt.

McLaren does not have as big a challenge, although also Oscar Piastri the sprint ended at the safety fences. However, the Aussie driver’s car remained intact, and the only concern was for himself.

Team mate Lando Norris ran away with the sprint victory already nine points away in the championship. Now, in qualifying and Sunday’s race, Piastr almost has to do better than Norris, so that the gap doesn’t grow too big.

The time trial should have started exactly at 20:00 Finnish time, but the organizers moved it forward by five minutes, because the safety fences on the track still required reinforcement.
