ACF Fiorentina has a new coach three days after parting ways with Stefano Pioli. Paolo Vanoli was presented as his successor on Friday afternoon and is said to have received a contract for the current season including an option for a further one. It is his fourth head coach position in the men’s division after he looked after league rivals FC Torino last season.
The Lilies are last in Serie A after ten match days and are winless. The team is placed in the top half of the table based on the squad value of 285 million euros. Well-known names such as Robin Gosens (31), David de Gea (35) and Edin Džeko (39) are part of the team. In the Conference League, the Viola are in eighth place after three games – including the 0-1 win in Mainz on Thursday – and would therefore qualify for the round of 16. Young coach Daniele Galloppa helped out for a game.
In addition to the change in the coaching position, there has also been a recent change in the sporting leadership. The architect of the squad, Daniele Pradè, resigned from his position as sports director last Saturday. He was succeeded by his assistant Roberto Goretti.
