Far-right influencers have launched a smear campaign on social media falsely accusing New York’s new mayor, Democrat Zohran Mamdani, of ties to the Islamic State (IS) terrorist group. 34-year-old Mamdani, a Muslim born in Uganda, is constantly the target of attacks from the far right.
