In “Babo – The Arrest Warrant Story” numerous companions of the arrest warrant have their say. But the rapper’s mother remains quiet.
“Babo – The Arrest Warrant Story” has been showing on Netflix since October 28th. It examines arrest’s career progression as well as his personal life and his experiences with drug use and trafficking. A near-death experience is also part of the documentation. The makers (among others: Elyas M’Barek and Pacco-Luca Nitsche produced the film) give the impression that the viewers come very close to the person Aykut Anhan, as the arrest warrant is known in common. Rap colleagues like Celo & Abdi and Jan Delay speak in front of the camera, as does his wife Nina Anhan – only his mother is missing.

Director Juan Moreno dissolves
Director Juan Moreno gave the answer to the question about the absence of the mother in the documentary in an interview with “Spiegel”. Moreno, who co-directed the film with Sinan Sevinç, explained that Arrest’s mother herself asked not to be filmed for the Netflix production – a request that Moreno and his team respected.
The interview date has already been set
An interview with her was originally planned. The shoot was already prepared, but the implementation never took place. Shortly before the appointment, arrest warrant’s mother apologized in a voice message and explained that certain personal topics of conversation were not easy for her.
Specifically, Moreno said in the “Spiegel” interview: “We set off and then she asked me in a heartwarming voice message whether I could maybe forego showing her in the film because it would be too difficult for her to talk about her late husband and the condition of her son. And I think you have to respect that.” He further explained: “The mother is a terrific, great, great woman. […] She didn’t come as a supposed cleaner, as many might think. […] She was a very, very successful rower, rowed for Beşiktaş in Istanbul and was incredibly successful.”
How Capo honors his mother
Director Juan Moreno wasn’t the only one who spoke highly of arrest warrant’s mother. His younger brother, rapper Capo, also wanted to pay his respects to her after the release of “Babo – The Arrest Warrant Story”. In an Instagram story, he wrote that she was “the true heroine of this story” and added “No picture, no sentence, no film in this world can show what you really are.”
The loss of the father
While the mother is hardly mentioned in the documentary, the documentary discusses arrest warrant’s struggle with the loss of his father in detail. Jelal Anhan suffered from depression and committed suicide.
