Hertha BSC has developed and sold some talent in recent years. With Kennet Eichhorn, the next young star is already ready.
At the age of 16 years and 14 days, Kennet Eichhorn set a record at the beginning of August. The Hertha BSC midfielder became the youngest second division player in football history. Eichhorn is one of the greatest talents in Germany, is now an integral part of the Berlin squad and has made nine appearances for the professionals. Coach Stefan Leitl made it clear at the start of the season: “I don’t give a shit whether he’s 16 or 17. He’s a huge talent for Hertha.”
How long Eichhorn will continue to play for the second division club is unclear. Because according to “Sport Bild”, several top clubs have him on their list. Scouts from clubs such as Manchester United, Liverpool FC, Paris Saint-Germain and FC Barcelona are said to have already observed him. Nationally, FC Bayern, Borussia Dortmund and Eintracht Frankfurt are also said to be interested in the 16-year-old.
Hertha is certainly aware of this interest and, according to “Sport Bild”, is demanding a transfer fee of around 20 million euros. That would be a higher sum than Ibrahim Maza, whom the capital club sold to Bayer Leverkusen for twelve million euros last summer.
