It was inevitable: the first intervention on Gordon and Froukje de Both’s Radio 10 morning show is a fact. A presenter has been appointed to guide things: Jan-Paul Grootentraast.
Jan-Paul Grootentraast is now the central presenter of the Radio 10 morning, while Gordon and Froukje de Both act as his co-hosts or sidekicks. The weekend DJ was already featured in the program last week, officially as part of the 70’s Top 710 theme week, unofficially as a sniffer internship. And since this morning he is a permanent member.
Peace and balance
This DJ takes charge of the studio and ensures that the program runs more smoothly, Talpa tells us NU.nl. The company emphasizes The Telegraph that this change has nothing to do with disappointing results.
A spokesperson: “It is true that Jan-Paul Grootentraast is a permanent part of the morning show on Radio 10. We enjoyed it so much last week during the 70’s list that we are going to continue this. It brings peace and balance to the program, which also strengthens Gordon and Froukje, together with Jan-Paul.”
Worrying
Why was an intervention taken? That’s according to it A.D clearly. “Since the start of Gordon & Froukje, the station’s listening figures have fallen sharply. Where Radio 10 previously had a 7 percent market share, this is now only 5.2 percent. Similar stations such as SkyRadio, Joe and Radio Veronica are all seeing their market share increase.”
The newspaper continues: “Gordon and Froukje’s morning program still scores far below the channel market share. The duo currently has around 3.5 percent. That is worrying, because a morning show usually has the highest share of the channel and has a so-called listen-through effect.”
Intervention
According to Show newsa Talpa program, Gordon’s show is certainly controversial. “The intervention follows previous criticism and commotion surrounding the show. Since its start in September, the program has already provided high-profile moments. For example, Gordon took off his shirt in the studio during a broadcast.”
What Gordon himself says? “What sour people you have, exhausting!” he writes Instagram. “It is not true that Talpa has ‘intervened’. We have been on the road with a great team for two months now and together we are building a great morning show. We are trying to find a form in which both Froukje and I can do their best.”
‘We get plenty of time’
What about according to Gordon? “It is true that Jan Paul Grootentraast has been added to the team because we all have the feeling that this strengthens everything. Jan Paul is not the presenter but the DJ on duty and the three of us create and present this program with the nice addition of Hannelore Zwitserlood.”
He continues: “Talpa gives us all the time and space to make something beautiful out of it and maintain our beautiful positive vibe!! So too bad for all those haters hahahhahahha will you also listen tomorrow??”
Matter of taste
According to the visitors of NU.nl this isn’t going to help. “I understand that tastes differ, but I find it difficult to imagine that many people are looking forward to this in the early morning. And I’m not even talking about the fact that most people don’t like Gordon that much anyway…” says a certain Roki.
And Ron: “Good action. Tried, failed. And on. I have also changed channels since Gordon was there. This will not bring me back, by the way. The fact that Gordon is in the program at all is a reason for me to stay away. It’s just not my kind of humor.”
What does Evert say?
Evert Santegoeds is considered Gordon’s biggest media critic. His co-host Jordi Versteegden asks him in the podcast Strictly Private: “Do you dare to say anything about it? Because Tina Nijkamp no longer dares to burn her fingers out of fear.”
The Private Boss then: “Yes, what else do you have to say about it? I also think it’s silly to keep emphasizing it every week, but it’s not a success and the Netherlands doesn’t feel like having Gordon in the morning. Yes, that seems clear to me. That was actually clear from the start.”
‘It’s not growing’
Evert has a gloomy outlook for Gordon. “Everyone said: ‘It’s going to grow’, but it won’t, because it will sink even further. Then a tough measure cannot be avoided. And that is not ‘the arrival of’…”
Jordi concludes: “Well, okay, it does mean that they apparently want something at the pace of the show, otherwise you wouldn’t add someone like that.”
