Today morning, Monday 3 November 2025, a woman was attacked from behind and stabbed to one side in Piazza Gae Aulenti, in Milan. The 43-year-old, an employee of Finlombarda (a financial company of the Lombardy Region), was rescued by medics and rushed to hospital. The husband, alerted to the attack, reached the scene of the injury by bicycle. The attacker fled immediately after hitting her and the police are on his trail.

Woman stabbed in Milan: it’s serious

The Areu 118 staff intervened around 9 this morning, sending an ambulance and a medical car to Piazza Gae Aulenti. The woman was transferred under code red to the Niguarda Hospitalwhere she immediately underwent surgery. The 43-year-old remained conscious, but the injuries sustained are very serious: the knife, which remained stuck in the left side, would have damaged the lung and spleen. She allegedly repeated to the rescuers several times: “They stabbed me.”

The regional councilor for Welfare Guido Bertolaso explained that the woman suffered a deep stab wound to her back, with damage to her chest and abdomen. The operation, which lasted about two hours, was performed by the Trauma Center directed by Stefania Cimbanassi. The victim is not in immediate danger of life, but the prognosis remains reserved.

Also the President of the Lombardy Region, Attilio Fontanaexpressed closeness to the victim, defining the incident as “an affair that has upset everyone”, thanking the rescuers and Niguarda staff for their timely intervention.

The reconstruction of the stabbing in Milan

This morning the area of ​​the attack, very busy at that time, was crowded. According to initial reconstructions, the attacker hit the woman from behind with a kitchen knife 20-25 centimeters long, and then run away. The Carabinieri of the Radiomobile Unit, who are investigating to clarify the dynamics of the gesture, have acquired images from the numerous surveillance cameras present in the area. The footage would have shown a man walking a short distance from the victim moments before the attack and then quickly walking away.

The woman was shot in a small clearing between two skyscrapers near a bicycle park in Piazza Gae Aulenti. He did not see the attacker’s facewho surprised her from behind, but she may have met him during the morning commute: she had arrived by subway at the Gioia station on the Green line and had reached the square through the pedestrian paths of the Biblioteca degli Alberi (BAM). She was on her way to work when a person caught up with her and hit her with the blade.
