The trio is 1 point behind the leader from Naples, who was stuck at 0-0 against Como on Saturday.

Milan took the lead in the 39th minute through Strahinja Pavlovic, who immediately took advantage of the first chance of the match. The 24-year-old Serbian scored from a cross from Rafael Leão. Just before half-time, Youssouf Fofana could even have put his team at 2-0, but he shot wide.

Leão himself failed to offer Milan any more certainty after more than an hour. After a misunderstanding in the Roman defense, the Portuguese was able to shoot freely, but he hit the defender Mario Hermoso who was stationed on the line.

Roma did make attempts to threaten Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan. The team only really succeeded in this after a handball in Fofana’s penalty area. But Maignan saved the penalty taken by Paulo Dybala.
