Milan won the top game against Roma 1-0 (1-0) late on Sunday evening (November 2nd, 2025) – Serbian central defender Strahinja Pavlović scored the triumphant goal in the 39th minute. This means that the situation at the top of the table is that champions SSC Napoli, with 22 points from ten games, have one point more to their name than Inter, Milan and Rome with 21 each.

Modric plays the entire game – with 40

AC Milan was also led in the central midfield against the capital city by the now 40-year-old Croatian Luka Modrić, who only moved from Real Madrid to Serie A before this season. For their success, the Rossoneri needed not only a lot of perseverance but also a good deal of luck – and an outstanding Mike Maignan in goal.

Rome had actually set the tone from kick-off, put a lot of pressure on, but simply couldn’t get the ball past the French national goalkeeper. Paulo Dybala missed the biggest chance of the game from the penalty spot in the 82nd minute.

Dybala fails from the spot for the first time in four years

Youssouf Fofana had previously blocked a Lorenzo Pellegrini free kick in the wall with his hand, and referee Marco Guida immediately pointed to the spot. But Dybala, who had not missed a penalty in four years, was denied by Maignan, who punched the ball from the bottom right corner. Afterwards, Rome continued to apply constant pressure until injury time, while Milan played poorly on the counterattack – but the victory was still no longer in great danger.
