Falko Hoehnsdorf gained his first experience with securities in the 1990s as a student with funds and his first individual stocks. After studying physics and completing a doctorate in the field of semiconductor physics, he began his professional career in the semiconductor industry in 2000, where he continues to work with great enthusiasm on the latest technological developments to this day. The stock market was always his passion. Especially during the dot-com crash (2000-2003) he learned how important a stable system, clear rules and iron discipline are. He developed and tested many different trading approaches over the years – and, above all, learned what doesn’t work. He traded stocks and numerous derivatives and continually refined his strategy. The turning point came in 2019: It became clear to him that classic stock picking – whether technical or fundamental – can rarely achieve long-term excess returns. The few exceptions prove the rule. Instead, he shifted his focus to ETFs that track the overall market (e.g. DAX, Nasdaq 100) and developed a rules-based system for trend determination and timing. This is how his Wikifolio “Fund Values Trend Trading” came into being.
