Asko Uurasjärvi the long day’s work for Jämin Jänte was remembered on Yle’s broadcast on Sunday. The men’s relay race was about to start in the Vuokatti Suomen Cup of cross-country skiing.
Uurasjärvi, who died last spring, was a long-time leader of the ski club. In an interview with Yle, Jänte’s men talked about his importance to the club.
– Big boots left. Now you can see that we have five men replacing Asko. He was a real workaholic. Memories live on, and every day we remember Asko, Cross mat Hakola said in an interview with Yle.
Lauri Lepistö said that Jämin Jänne will ski this season in honor of the memory of Uurasjärvi.

In addition to Hakola and Lepistö, Jämin Jänte’s relay trio was completed by Vuokatti Markus Vuorela.
During his time at Uurasjärvi, Jämi won three times the most coveted team title in skiing in his home country. In 2019, 2022 and 2023, Jämi was the Finnish champion of the men’s relay.
