Mightily A rough weeknight – program deals with the week’s news through political satire. This Saturday, in the program piloted by the comedian Jukka Lindström, the latest news about the parliamentary assistants of the members of parliament was particularly talked about.

This week there has been news about how MPs have hired relatives or loved ones, for example their own son or spouse, as parliamentary assistants. For example, Minister of Social Affairs and Health Kaisa Juuso (ps) and MP Jaana Strandman (ps) have acted this way.

– What do you think of hiring your own relatives for such a position with taxpayers’ money? Lindström inquires from the interlocutors.

In the studio are actress and screenwriter Niina Lahtinen, Suomen Kuvalehti’s political editor Robert Sundman, communication agency Milton’s brand manager Lotta Backlund and guest actress Krista Kosonen.

– I am one hundred percent team Kaisa Juuso. There is nothing wrong. My opinion is completely neutral, and has nothing to do with the fact that my husband employs me quite a lot, Kosonen says.

Kosonen will star in the film that premieres next January Kalevala: The story of Kullervo in the movie, who is her husband Antti J. Jokinen written and directed by.

– That’s true. Cultural people usually feel a bit like that sense of moral superiority, but there hasn’t been much talk about this nepo baby pattern. Because that’s probably why the cultural crowd hopes that eyes won’t turn there, says Backlund.

Nepo baby refers to nepotism, i.e. favoring relatives. Generally, children of well-known people who gain a foothold and publicity in, for example, the entertainment industry, are called “fake babies”. The term is used to express that the children have benefited from their famous parents or relatives.

– The Salmises, for example Reijo, Eppu and Krisse, are really hard performers. That’s also why Roope Salminen has made it to TV, even though he’s an ordinary sex offender, Backlund continues and silences the studio chatters with his acknowledgment.

– Oh… says Niina Lahtinen.

– Ohhh… Lindström and Kosonen also squirm for a while.

Roope Salminen was sentenced in 2020 for forcing a sexual act. Since then, Salminen has spoken about his sentence in public, for example Just life program and Iltalehti’s Uncensored Päivärinta program.

– Come on… Lindström makes it clear that the issue will be moved forward quickly.

Lindström’s reaction makes the studio audience laugh. Kosonen continues on the topic that if he ever becomes a member of parliament, he would like to hire his own children as assistants.

He jokes that then it would be his children’s turn to act as Kosonen’s “servants” and Kosonen himself could rage on the floors of the parliament building as if to take revenge.
