The accident happened just before 2 a.m. near the intersection of Vlaamsekaai and Zalmstraat. Two motorcyclists were driving towards the Sint-Lievenstunnel. A 23-year-old man hit the woman with his motorcycle. It concerns a 31-year-old woman from Ostend. She died on the spot. The motorcyclist also did not survive the accident. He was taken to hospital in critical condition, but died from his injuries.
The precise circumstances of the accident are still under investigation. The public prosecutor’s office appointed a traffic expert and will also request the camera images.
