FC Eindhoven has surprisingly been eliminated from the Eurojackpot KNVB Cup. After extra time, the ailing Kitchen Champion Division Club had to leave the victory to HSV Hoek. The Zeeland amateurs scored the winning goal in minute 119. A mediocre NAC Breda lost to Heracles. In Breda it was 1-4 on Wednesday. The cup adventure is also over for Halsteren. The last remaining Brabant amateur club was eliminated by SC Genemuiden (1-0). RKC continues to convert, with a 3-2 win over SC Cambuur.
NAC, the Pearl of the South, played a weak first half against Heracles. The number last in the Eredivisie made it 0-1 in the 21st minute via a beautiful long shot into the top corner by Ajdin Hrustic. Ten minutes later it was ex-FC Den Bosch player Jizz Hornkamp who headed in the 0-2. NAC coach Carl Hoefkens has made Kostas Lamprou his new first goalkeeper. But the Greek goalkeeper was completely wrong with this second Almelo goal.
NAC came out much brighter in the second half. That quickly resulted in a great chance and ultimately a goal. A header from Sydney van Hooijdonk was parried by the Heracles goalkeeper, but Boy Kemper was quick to save the rebound.
NAC was the better team, but they were defeated in a counter. The Breda players did not succeed or dare to stop the outbreak through a violation. Yvandro Borges Sanches was able to score the 1-3. To make matters worse, Heracles also made it 1-4 (by Walid Ould-Chikh)..
Fairytale Halsteren is over
Unfortunately, no more chance for Halsteren to convert against a professional club. The team from the 4th Division already qualified well for the first round of the cup tournament, but SC Genemuiden, which plays at a higher level, proved to be slightly more efficient. In the second half, Halsteren had an excellent chance to equalize, but Jawad Bellahsen failed to score from the penalty spot. So it remained 1-0.
FC Eindhoven has difficulty with amateurs
August 29 was the last time FC Eindhoven won an official match. Then RKC was beaten 1-0. Since then, things haven’t worked out for the blue and whites and they didn’t succeed this Wednesday either. Even the amateurs of HSV Hoek from the Second Division could not win.
Hoek quickly took the lead from a corner. Fortunately, FC Eindhoven was able to take revenge. As a result, they still led 1-2 before half time after headers from Clint Essers and Rangelo Janga. A few minutes before the end, Gertjan Martens suddenly appeared and extended the match in Zeeland.
And that extra was ultimately won by Hoek in the final minutes. Din Sula pushed FC Eindhoven further into a crisis by pushing the ball behind Jort Borgmans just before the final whistle. RKC is one round further
There was a party in Waalwijk this Wednesday evening. SC Cambuur won nicely. It was the evening of headed goals, because here too the 1-0 came from the head of Tim van der Leij. The second was made by Juan Familio-Castillo. Cambuur did something back, of course with a header, but the margin turned out to be enough for RKC to pull out a victory. Ultimately the score was 3-2 in the Mandemakers Stadium.
