The fire brigade was alerted around 7 p.m. and responded with fire engines, water trucks, aerial platforms and additional emergency vehicles. Because the smoke spread over a large area, an NL Alert was issued in which local residents were advised to close windows and doors.
The roof of the building has collapsed. There were solar panels on top. In the event of a fire involving solar panels, the shards can be spread to a great distance. The exact size of that area in this case is being inventoried, according to the safety region. Residents are advised to clean up the shards only wearing gloves.
