The pumping ban had been partially in force since the beginning of October in watercourses such as the Waerevaart, the Handzamevaart, the Poekebeek and the Blankaart, among others. For some watercourses, such as the Grote Kemmelbeek, Mandel, Heulebeek, Devebeek and Gaverbeek, there has been sufficient water available since the beginning of October.
Due to the recent rainfall, salinization also decreased sharply and the presence of blue-green algae is limited to a few waterways. The provincial drought consultation continues to monitor the situation and will evaluate the approach to this drought period, together with the Integrated Water Policy Coordination Committee (CIW).
