Milano, 27 Oct. (askanews) – The right to health as a duty of the institutions and a founding value of the Republic. From the Quirinale, during the “Research Days” ceremony, President Mattarella recalled the importance of guarantee access to care for all and of support the National Health Service in the face of the challenges of ageing, drug costs and staff shortages.

“As a duty of the institutions and in the expectations of Italians, the right to health, which the Constitution defines as a universal right – said Mattarella – Innovations that benefit people’s lives must have a positive impact on the entire system of the National Health Service, which is struggling with the aging of the population, with the prices of life-saving drugs, with shortages of medical and nursing staffin short, with the difficulties that represent obstacles to the full achievement of one of the most important goals in the life of the Republic”, added the Head of State.
