Berlin (AP) – Bundesliga soccer team 1. FC Union Berlin has signed the first new signing for the second half of the season.
Dominique Heintz from the league rival SC Freiburg will strengthen the Berlin defense from the new year, as Union announced. Neither club provided any information about the terms of the transfer or the content of the contract.
The 28-year-old has played 90 Bundesliga games for Freiburg in three and a half years. The former U19, U20 and U21 international made his Bundesliga debut at 1. FC Kaiserslautern in 2012 before moving to 1. FC Köln in 2015. In his previous 181 Bundesliga games, Heintz has scored four goals.
“Dominique is a very experienced player who has already shown his quality in the Bundesliga. With his skills, he will give us more possibilities for variation,” said Oliver Ruhnert, Union’s manager of professional football.
