A new record has arrived from the Byd Yangwang U9 Xtreme. On the famous German track of Nürburgringthe Nordschleifethis hypercar from the Chinese company, with four electric motors and a total power of over 3,000 HPrecorded the fastest lap ever. The Yangwang U9 Xtreme has in fact stopped the clock at the time of 6’59″157thus doing about five seconds better than the previous record, achieved last June by Xiaomi SU7 Ultra in 7’04″957. The new BYD record on the Nürburgring track actually dates back to August 22, 2025but it has only now been certified. This Chinese sports car had also recently set a further record on the German test circuit of Papenburg, namely that of being the fastest production car, reaching the 496.22 km/h.

The famous Nordschleife is one of the most famous motorsport tracks ever. Long 20,832 kmwith many curves and many ups and downs, was also recently the scene of the victory of the four-time Formula 1 world champion Max Verstappen last September 27th at the 4 Hours of the Nürburgring with one Ferrari 296 GT3. The circuit is often used as a test bed for vehicle development, something done here too by BYD who then achieved this speed record. The Yangwang U9 Xtreme is 4,991 mm long, 2,029 mm wide and 1,351 mm high, with a wheelbase of 2,900 mm. With 20 inch rims, the car has four electric motorseach 555 kW, for a total power of 2,220 kW, or 3,018 HP. The pilot protagonist of this new record under seven minutes was Moritz Kranzwho also stated: “The Nürburgring Nordschleife is the most challenging circuit and our lap time is a testament to the development capabilities of Byd and Yangwang.”
