Snuff was banned in Detroit sports. Sami Lotila
Swedish hockey players are shocked by the snuff ban they ran into in the United States.
Detroit recently banned the use of “smokeless tobacco products” and nicotine pouches in all sports arenas – including locker rooms.
Albert Johansson and Erik Gustafsson, who belong to the Detroit Red Wings’ NHL organization, were not happy about the news.
– At first I thought it was a joke, Johansson told the Swedish newspaper Expressen’s by.
of the Michigan Live news site according to which, violating the snuff ban can result in fines of $500. The amount corresponds to 429 euros.
The 24-year-old Johansson is the Red Wings’ toughest sniffer. He thinks that one day he will still have to pay fines for his hobby.
– Sniffing is nothing to be ashamed of. Now we probably have to do it more at home, but maybe we also have to smuggle some snuff into the hall, he said.
Gustafsson joked that he is lucky to be currently playing for the farm team Grand Rapids Griffins in Detroit’s neighboring city.
– It would have been difficult in the NHL now. I have used [nikotiinia] eight years already, Gustafsson commented.
Expressen reports that Gustafsson prefers nicotine products so strong that even Sweden’s hardest snuff users get heart palpitations and dizziness.
