Kaja Kallas addressed the new students of the College of Europe in the Concertgebouw. She pointed out, among other things, the importance of international law in the fight against world conflicts. This academic year the connection with Ukraine is central. “The world will soon be in your hands (the young people, ed.). Take an active position in defending international law in general and the International Criminal Court in particular.”

Victoria Amelina

Victoria Amelina is the ambassador of the courses this year. The Ukrainian writer and freedom activist died two years ago in a rocket attack in Kramatorsk. “Russia tries to portray it as a conflict between Eastern and Western civilization. But in fact it is a battle between inhumanity and humanity. I am convinced that the soft forces will certainly prevail. The soft forces will certainly win in the end.

The College of Europe in Bruges has existed since 1949. There are now also campuses in Poland and Albania. The majority of the 500 students, about 350, are following a course in Bruges.
