According to a statement from the association, seven of the 152 referees are top-level referees and 15 others are top-level assistant referees.
“From today, our disciplinary committee will initiate the necessary procedures and impose appropriate penalties,” said federation president Haciosmanoglu on Monday.
18,227 matches for one referee
Data received by the association shows that 371 of the 571 referees active in professional leagues have betting accounts.
One referee is said to have bet on 18,227 matches, ten referees placed bets on more than 10,000 matches and 42 referees bet on more than 1,000 matches, the football association said.
