The Flemish government is still almost 700 million euros away from a balanced budget in 2027

To achieve the planned budget balance in 2027, the Diependaele government will still have to close a deficit of almost 700 million euros. Next year the Flemish budget will go into the red by another 1.7 billion euros. This is evident from budget documents provided to parliament. Striking: due to a new calculation method, the Flemish debt ratio will suddenly drop to less than 15 percent in 2026.
