The small vessel sank due to the collision and has still not been found.
It is a boat from De Koperen Ploeg. They are involved in mooring, unmooring and shifting ships in the Amsterdam port area.
An employee confirms that two of their employees are missing. They do not wish to comment further at this time. The police have not yet released anything about the identity of the two victims.
However, a spokesperson for the Safety Region said that given the time and duration of the disappearance, it is ‘not likely’ that they are still alive.
“There is no longer a rescue operation. That is why the police will continue today with a special team to find the people under water,” says the spokesperson for the security region.
Inland vessel and work vessel
The police will continue their search underwater this morning with drones and special equipment. It is not clear exactly in which area. The Amsterdam police could not yet be reached for a response.
Around 6 p.m was there yesterday a collision between an inland vessel and a small work vessel. The work vessel, with two people on board, became submerged. Both have gone missing.
